EMDR

Processing of traumatic memories.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a type of psychotherapy treatment that can help to process traumatic memories. The therapist directs the patient to make side-to-side eye movements while retrieving negative and traumatic memories. This technique helps the patient to come to an adaptive solution to the negative memories, which results in less distress, a new perspective on negative beliefs and reduced physiological arousal.
